Government reaches out to marginal small farmers through CSC

Amid continued protests by farmers against farm laws and the ongoing pandemic, the government has reached out to marginal small farmers through Common Service Centers (CSCs).

The CSC SPV is a special purpose vehicle under the Department of Electronics and IT that provides a host of electronic services to consumers through its CSCs. It operates around 3.74 lakh CSC, of ​​which 80 percent is operational in rural and semi-urban areas. Currently, 32,162 CHCs are connected to over 600 Krishi Vigyan Kendras to provide teleconsultations. Through the Agriculture Services Portal, farmers will be able to purchase seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, animal feed and other agricultural inputs.

“Aiming to empower marginal smallholder farmers, who constitute 86% of India’s farming community, CSC E-Governance India Ltd (CSC SPV) has unveiled a one-stop agricultural services portal that will serve as their one-stop shop and marketplace. Said a statement from the CSC SPV. The portal – www.cscagri.in – will enable small and marginal farmers, who do not have easy access to the digital world, to benefit from essential agricultural services with ease and at an affordable cost, he said.

“Our newly launched portal can be accessed by farmers with the support of local CHCs for the purchase of agro-inputs, rental and rental of agricultural tools and machinery, soil testing, sale of products agricultural, tele-consultations, loans and insurance facilities, ”CSC CEO of the SPV, Sanjay Rakesh, said in the statement.

CSC SPV plans to contact 6,000 producer organizations (OPF), one in each block of the country, this year. “We have already integrated 1,000 FPOs on this new platform. These FPOs will enroll approximately 1 crore farmers to benefit from various services on the portal, ”said Rakesh.

With the help of village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) who run CSCs (Common Service Centers) and FPOs, farmers can connect with buyers to sell their products through Kisan e-Mart, the marketing arm. rural area of ​​the CSC. During the past year, almost 4 lakh teleconsultations have been carried out.

Various government programs for farmers will also be available through the agricultural platform, for example Kisan Credit Card, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana and similar programs.
