According to Fabrice Romano, Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey is set to seal a loan move to Scottish champions Rangers. In addition to the loan, an option to buy would be included in the agreement.
The move is a little surprise. Ramsey never really found his feet in Italy and the exit door always looks slightly ajar. Now Scotland and the chance to relaunch his career await him. And he might even clinch a league title along the way.
Aaron Ramsey set to seal Rangers loan move
To say Aaron Ramsey’s career has become stale would be the understatement of the year. The Welshman has only made five appearances all season. At 31, he simply couldn’t risk becoming even more entrenched at Juventus. For the sake of his career, a move had to take place. Enter the Rangers.
The Scottish champions will welcome the former Arsenal midfielder with open arms. Not only does he bring incredible experience, but also European pedigree and ability – even at 31. Of course, his injury issues are still an issue, but for a player of his quality, Rangers can look beyond that.
There is very little room for error for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. They are just two points above Celtic in the title fight. Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst hopes Ramsey will have an instant impact.
At his best, Ramsey could outplay every other competitor in Scotland; it can make the difference between a title won and a title lost.
On paper, the deal – for a former Arsenal star now at Juventus – could hardly be more attractive to Rangers. If Ramsey also performs, they will have the option to buy ready to go. Looking back on that deal at the end of the season, he might be among the best.
